04-06-17 Dawn's Early Light
By Scott Shephard
I've said it before but I'll say it again: "photography" literally means "writing with light." Thus, photography is all about light. Good photography is about finding good light. Somebody else will have to say whether this is a worthy photo or not but at least I captured it in exactly the light I was looking for.
In the case of these aspen trees, I knew that I would have about 2 minutes to to photograph them at the instant that the sun peeked through two mountain peaks. And so I waited patiently and I ended up with a few frames to work with.
Why did I turn it to black and white? I didn't want color to distract from the lines and textures present in these trees. What little Ansel Adams there is in my photography shows up best in black and white. :-)
