07-16-15 Self-Portrait with Sunrise, Rocks and Deb
By Scott Shephard
As is so often the case, I didn't go looking for this photo this morning. I found it in a quest for something else, which I have yet to find. :-(
Nevertheless, here's a selfie taken on The Rock, which is a place of pilgrimage for me when I am in the Black Hills. As you can see my arms are serving as my selfie stick. I don't own one of those, though putting a 6 pound Canon 5DIII on a stick wouldn't work - I don't have the wrist strength for that.
We look almost like we dressed for this portrait but that was an accident. And I'm breaking a rule because I usually ask my subjects to wear clothing that doesn't have branding or text since it distracts. Shame on me. But, as I said, we weren't planning on a self-portrait.
And now that I may have called your attention to it, my shirt says, "Freedom of speech isn't a license to be stupid." That's a deep thought, isn't it? I can think of at least one candidate for president who should take this idea to heart . . . .
