10-04-15 A Change of Seasons (HDR)

By Scott Shephard

I had spent 5 days at our cabin recently without going out to take photos in any serious way. And so, on the last morning, I left the cabin with camera gear in hand and went back to a place I have photographed before. As you may know, I do this often, mainly because I think that I will finally get "the money shot."

When I got the this area, I was rewarded with soft, mist-filtered light, a landscape glistening with rain and perfect fall colors. So the secret was to find the right composition and try to get things right technically. This is the result. And I only put my foot in the creek twice, slipped on beautifully treacherous stepping stones several times, and banged my camera on a rock once. Oh, and I had to chase off free range cattle, who seemed interested in getting closer to "my" spot. No harm was done to body, equipment or cattle.

I worked very hard to get this photo. I like it - at least for now Will I go back to this place again? No doubt.
