My wife Deb asked me yesterday why I wasn't taking photos of fall colors lately. I'm not sure how I answered but I know I was thinking, "I've got enough photos of leaves." But given that I am seeing colors unlike any I've seen recently, I was compelled to go out "road hunting" this morning.

I had two specific subjects in mind: a beautiful maple I had seen that was alive with brilliant reds and oranges. The other was any maple tree I could find that had shades of green turning to shades of orange.

So I'm posting a photo of yellow maple leaves today. Why? As so often is the case, I got sidetracked by something that wasn't on the list. It's good to be right brained. :-)

I should say that as I was taking all of the photos I took this morning, I was working on trying to get something that you might not always see In the case of this photo, I am shooting from underneath the leaves and the sky above looks white because it is "blown out" as we say in the photo business. I like the high key effect. But I really like the red lines and patterns in this photo. You have to love fall, especially in a state where winter white, beautiful in is own frigid way, quickly replaces the colors you see here.
