I've had a year to think about what I might say today on the occasion of our granddaughter's first birthday. But instead I begin to cry as I think about how blessed I am to be witness to and participant in the amazing life force that Glenyce Jane Shephard has become.

I feel joy and wonder and great anticipation for what lies ahead.
