21.02.15 "Sanitized for Your Protection"*

Friends of a certain age may remember that any "decent" motel had a paper seal around the toilet seat that read "Sanitized for your protection." As a child, I was particularly impressed by this because few of the hotels we stayed at on family trips were national chains - they were too expensive. I believe the threshold for affordability was $15 or less. Thus, our toilets were rarely "sanitized." But I and my nether regions survived.

Fast forward to 2021 and the hotel we have been at in Albuquerque had its own brand of "Sanitized for your protection" seal when we arrived. A placebo? Or evidence of a real effort to make us safe? I'll choose to believe the latter, though I guess that makes it a placebo, doesn't it? Anyway, we move on today to points a little more south. Our goal is modest - Show Low, Arizona, the town named after a poker game between two wealthy land owners, so I've read. Sorry South Dakotans but we will be basking in 43˚ weather later today. :-)

*Answer to my Facebook tease: “Marathon Man” I’m told this movie set dentistry back decades.
