23.07.05 Microcosm

By Scott Shephard

From the Oxford English Dictionary:

Microcosm: a community, place, or situation regarded as encapsulating in miniature the characteristic qualities or features of something much larger

If I have to tell you what you are looking at here, then maybe the photo is a failure? But I’ve failed before. So I’ll tell you . . . .

I had gone out to my truck to put some things away and was admiring the results of my recent wax job (thank you Mequiar’s Hybrid Ceramic Wax) and how well the rain drops had beaded.

When I stopped and looked closely, I saw more than beads of water and I took few photos.

To me a bead of water, reflecting the clouds, sky and trees above is a perfect microcosm.

But aren’t we all? Certainly, at the conclusion of a 3 day family reunion, I am reminded that I am only part of something much larger and much more important that I.
