20.07.01 Second Life (Gratitude, Part II)

In it’s final stage of life, the flower I showed you yesterday looks like this. So I guess you could say it goes out in style. The flower, incidentally, is a cultivated variety of the American pasque flower, more commonly called the Mayflower and also the South Dakota state flower.

I haven’t seen a “real” pasque flower in many years, but now I can’t step out our back door and see its cousin. And it isn’t particularly picky about what month it shows its face - if you hadn’t noticed it’s not May any more.
