22.10.04 Pastels

This tree, like the trees I showed you yesterday, is an aspen tree. But unlike the dominant and brilliant gold of yesterday, this tree, and its partners in the background, displayed an amazing number of different shades. To me, this seems atypical of aspen in the fall. Perhaps it was the soil? Or maybe these are a slightly different strain of aspen?

I do know that I loved what I saw and I probably ended up with 25 photos of these leaves. I also know that the very cool pre-dawn light helped accentuate the pastels. In photography, timing is everything . . . .
