22.02.22 Shelling

By Scott Shephard

I can’t speak for her but I think Deb was hoping for better opportunities as she sought seashells by the seashore along the Texas Gulf Coast. But I know she likes being near water. Our condo is less than 1/4 mile from the water and you can hear the wind driven waves crash onshore from our balcony. You can also see the sea from here, though its mostly hazy.*

Deb has told me that she would pick the ocean over the desert in a heartbeat. As for me, I lean towards desert landscapes though places that offer both are perfect. Baja Mexico comes to mind. But in an odd way so does the Little Bend campground along Lake Oahe, which is in what they call a “semi-arid” climate.

All of that aside, we are enjoying our stay here on the Gulf of Mexico. But I am starting to look forward to returning home, where today it is cold, windy and wintery. I think our two cats, Zeke and Zoe, miss us.

*I don’t think I have ever used the phrase “see the sea” in a sentence before. (And don’t you love all the sibilance in this last statement?)
