The first thing I'll say is that my post title has only one letter. For numerophobes** that's not a good thing. But I hope the title didn't stop you from reading this because, though this photo has the distinction of being taken on the 100th meridian, it isn't about an imaginary line and number. It's about the very real landscape just west and up the hill from Blunt, SD.

I have driven by this spot on many occasions thinking that this would be a good place to take a photo if the light was right. And finally, a couple days ago, I stopped. I think it's an ok photo but it doesn't really communicate all that I intended given my point of view. I guess I'll say, "You should have been there with me on this pristine August morning in the amazing state of South Dakota. Standing astride the 100th meridian"

**Numerophobia is a real word and means "fear of numbers."

*This imaginary line has it's own song. Like many music videos, I don't get the imagery. Also, you should know that Tragically Hip is a Canadian band and the hundredth merideian does indeed go through Canada as it heads to the north pole. Check out the video:
