26.01.26 Only for a Moment and the Moment's Gone (Part 3)

By Scott Shephard

I could post for months on the theme I’ve used for the last 3 days because I have close to a quarter million photos that I’ve taken over the last 55 years. And every one of those photos was taken of a moment that has come and gone.

It’s hard for me to explain but this particular picture doesn’t induce nostalgia as many photos do. There is a “presence” in this picture - she has not stepped out of my camera’s frame, only to be remembered in some photo picked up from a stack of photos that represent bygone days. She has always been with me and still is.

And in case you don’t know this person her name is Debra DeGeest (Shephard). This photo was taken over a half century ago. She was 18 and so was I. Back then I was enthralled by her spirit, her sense of purpose, her smile and her laughing eyes.

I still am.
