If you looked at this photo and immediately thought, “What the h!@# is that?!” you’d be forgiven. So here’s what you’re looking at: a small part of a more or less ripe field of corn seen from directly overhead at 200’ or so.
I had been out east of Watertown photographing an acreage for a friend. I had finished and was about to bring the drone down when I saw this on the control screen. Being right brained, I was immediately struck by the lines and textures of this field. And so I took this photo.
This morning when I studied the picture, I was impressed by things I would not expect to see. From the road, when I look at a field of corn, I see long, parallel lines spanning hundreds of acres. In this part of the field, I wondered if this particular farmer was getting a little creative? Is he/she an artist? I can’t say, of course, but I doubt it, certainly not when they are running their planter.
But I do like what I see. Why it happened and how it happened are mysteries to this “city boy.”
