I mentioned to someone recently that my "A Photo A Day" blog might be better named "A Photo A Month." I have been taking a few photos lately but because so many are aerial photos taken with my UAV*, I feel that they are a little redundant. Though, after a while, all of my photos seem a little redundant to me.
But good photographers find projects to restore their creative impulses. So to try to qualify as a "good" photographer, I started looking for a project. This photo may have helped me find it: I'll call it "Roads and Highways." Much of what I plan to do will be done aerially but my project theme doesn't preclude my use of a "real" camera.
Having said all of that, here's my first "Roads and Highways" post. It was taken just after sunrise somewhere over highway 16A in the Black Hills. What is nice about 16A is that it was designed for tourism, not speed, which means that there are twists and turns that could have been avoided. I know that Peter Norbeck, who helped lay out some of these roads decades ago, intentionally slowed cars down so that the folks inside them would have to look at the scenery. In my case, I stopped and got out of my car and spent time looking at the road. When's the last time you did that?
