If you think the title of this post suggests wishful thinking, you would be wrong. This garden, formally known as "the Pond Garden," is one of many on the grounds of Hampton Court Palace just outside of London. And it is a high maintenance affair - formal gardens need constant trimming. And as my bumper sticker might say, "I'd rather be sailing."
Nevertheless, the garden was made even more beautiful by the beautiful spring day we visited. I don't remember the sounds and smells of this place because I had disappeared inside my camera for the 45 minutes we visited, but I'm sure that were wonderful. In the noisy and malodorous world of the early 16th century, when Hampton Court was built, they would have been even more wonderful.
