This photo represents 1/640 of a second in the lives of Ashley Barnebei and her father Ashton. But am I stating the obvious when I say I think it represents so much more?
Only those who have made the walk they are about to take can answer that. I can only guess. But I do like this photo, which is not art, but instead a form of pure journalistic expression. You can read the expressions and body language and draw your own conclusions about this moment in the subjects' lives. But the photo is now a document in the lives of all of the participants.
Like a poem or novel, I think a good photo should both tell a story and leave room to accommodate the experiences and attitudes of the viewer. So what story does this photo tell you?
