In the late 1930s a man named Robert Allerton bought a 125 acre estate on the island of Kaua’i and, along with his partner John, proceeded to make a garden. It wasn’t just any garden, though. It was rich in interesting architectural details and showcased a multitude of tropical trees and plants.
Today, the garden is known as the Allerton Garden and is part of the National Tropical Botanical Garden. If you are ever on Kaua’i and would enjoy a 2 hour guided walk through the many “rooms” of this garden, it is worth the visit.
I won’t say anything more. I’ll let the few photos I ended up liking speak for themselves.
