I don’t know about you, but sometime in mid March I look out my window, see bare trees, brown grasss and barren flower beds and yearn for color to return to the landscape here in South Dakota. And then, when I’m not paying close attention, the grass is green, the trees look as if the leaves had never left and the flowers have bloomed. An important word in that last sentence is “have.” Past tense. Which is to say that before I realize it, the things I long for are gone. There’s a message here, isn’t there?
But each day, when I step out our back door, I am greeted by these iris. And, as much as possible, I’ve decided to try to keep them in the present tense. So today, I present part II of my Chrysalis series. And as you can see, the “butterflies” are about to hatch.
