I could tell you that I worked hard to get this somewhat impressionistic photo of a puffin swimming by the window at the Como Park Zoo. Or I could tell you the truth.
Which is that I took several photos of the puffins recently but what you see below is more typical of my efforts:
Puffins in captivity don't exactly strike a pose. And, when I looked at the first photo on my camera, I thought, "Well, at least I tried." In hindsight, I'd say it was a successful failure. I like the blur and the grain. And I like the orange beak.
And, if you haven't gotten your puffin fix today, here's a photo I took in Alaska a few years ago.
