A photo isn’t always about some lost moment . . .

I have to wonder if the person who mowed this lawn used GPS to get the lines so perfectly straight and perpendicular?

This was the only good shot I got of this group. It all fell apart shortly afterwards.

06-20-15 The Eyes of A Child

June 20, 2015 in Blog, Family, people, Portrait

By Scott Shephard

The other day I said that good light and good composition are central to making a good photo. I think both of those are present in this photo. But I should add that when it comes to portraiture, a good subject doesn't hurt. Granddaughter Glenyce Jane doesn't know how to pose (or even stand still) for my camera. But that's OK. Most subjects are really at their best and natural when they don't even know I'm there.

My title, incidentally, is the title of a song by the Moody Blues. The refrain goes

“With the eyes of a child
You must come out and see
That your world’s spinning ‘round
And through life you will be
A small part
Of a hope
Of a love
That exists
In the eyes of a child you will see”
— "The Eyes of A Child, Part I"
