When Laura Miller contacted me earlier this summer and asked if I would photograph her wedding, I jumped at the chance, largely because I like Laura and the rest of the Miller family. But I also said yes because the wedding was to be a civil ceremony at the Codington County Court House.
I had never seen a wedding ceremony of this type. And, of course, I had never photographed one before. The wedding was short and sweet and now that I've photographed one, I'll be better the next time, though chances aren't great that another one will come my way.
In this photo, Jay (the groom), Laura (in the wedding dress) and laura's sister, Julia, wait patiently for the magistrate to show up and they are oblivious to the presence of my camera. It was a perfect photo opportunity.
