In my review of the photos I took in 2018, I came across this one, which happens to be one of my favorites. The South Dakota Governor’s Cup is an annual event and I happened to be in the right place at the right time for the start of the 2nd day of the tournament. They use a staggered start because of the number of boats, though it probably would be more interest photographically if everybody started at once. :-)
The starting point in Spring Creek Marina, where I have kept my sailboat for the last 9 years. But the best fishing is 10 to 20 miles up the Missouri River. That’s a fair distance for my sailboat but a relatively short ride for a fast boat.
