Glenyce was getting ready for our traditional “big oak tree” photo shoot out at the Brass cabin in the Black Hills when I snapped this photo. The goal of that task is to get a photo of Glenyce and Ibby together and also to get individual portraits. We had mixed results on those and it turns out that one of my favorite photos happens to be this one of Glenyce, who was getting her hair braided by her mother for the “official” portrait. She is 6 years old now and is clearly aware that saying “Cheese” or turning away isn’t always necessary when she sees my camera.
