Being at the right place at the right time is a a key to making an interesting picture. Though, as Ansel Adams said, “Fortune favors the prepared mind.” I guess I was ready for this shot . . . .

I have to wonder if the person who mowed this lawn used GPS to get the lines so perfectly straight and perpendicular?

09-04-15 Into the Light

September 04, 2015 in Blog, people, Travel

By Scott Shephard

I took two photos in our short time in the observation deck of the De Young Art Museum in San Francisco that I like. This is one and the other you can see here. You'll have to be the judge of whether they are worthy of your time or not. If you are reading this, thanks for at least giving me a chance to explain myself. :-)

The thing I like in both is the strong light and the strong shadows. I don't tend to shoot in this kind of light so maybe it's the novelty that draws me?

The other thing I will say is that the "Field Trip" photo is filled with people but they are unaware of my presence. In this case, the room seems mostly empty but if you look at the faces of this couple they are both are looking at me a little suspiciously. Am I intruding on them? Or they on me?
