Occasionally I get in to my photographic time machine and revisit photos from the past that I like but didn’t share. This is such an occasion. The subject is what is known as “the Castles” and you would find these south of highway 20 in the western part of our state. They are part of an area that is known to some as the Slim Buttes.

There is certainly a paradox here given the vast amount of water that laps shores that are considered semi-arid desert.
Being at the right place at the right time is a a key to making an interesting picture. Though, as Ansel Adams said, “Fortune favors the prepared mind.” I guess I was ready for this shot . . . .
I have to wonder if the person who mowed this lawn used GPS to get the lines so perfectly straight and perpendicular?
Getting an interesting photo is often about being at the right place at the right time. Sometimes, as with this photo, it’s about getting to the right place at the right time.
Can something like this lawn be considered a work of art?
